Product Reviews

I am always weary of trying new products and thought this would be a great new addition to my postings. Who doesn't like to try new things? When I did Weight Watchers years ago during college (it really works - bye bye 100 pounds!), part of the meetings were other members sharing their favorite new low-fat items that they thought we all would like. There were some great finds! Keeping the spirit of those meetings, I thought it would be fun to share with you some of the things I've found that I really like - although, they might not all be low calorie. You should have no problem finding any of these in your local supermarket.

Ready, set, here we go!

My mom told me about Amy's and I have been in love with it ever since. Especially this Santa Fe Enchilada Bowl. It is so delicious. It has corn tortillas, organic rice, beans tofu and vegetables all combined with cheese and enchilada sauce. Even better, it's gluten free.  You're probably wondering - no meat? Trust me, you will not know that there is no meat in here. It's so flavorful and the whole bowl comes in at 350 calories. Mega good calorie deal for lunch and it's packed with 9 grams of fiber and 16 grams of protein. Try this one out!

I've been on a major oatmeal kick lately and saw this one on sale at the store. I love Kashi cereal, so I thought I'd give this a whirl. It comes in at 160 calories a packet and is loaded with fiber to keep you full and going strong all morning. This oatmeal is not as sweet as Quaker brown sugar & maple, but the flavor is still there and tastes more natural. At least I think so. If you are looking to switch out of your old breakfast habits like me (bye bye protein bar!), try this one out. Or if this flavor doesn't tickle your fancy, try one of the other flavors they have. I've also seen apples & cinnamon.

Last week I was craving chocolate, but needed something low calorie and quick. As I was wandering throughout the store, this was on an end cap and I automatically stopped. This one is super fast and super tasty. Even better you can whip it up in no time and it's ready to dig into in about 30 minutes. You mix the pudding powder packet with milk (even better for me, I could use soy!) for about three minutes, add the hard crunchy topping and let set for half an hour. That's it! This whole box makes 8, 1/2 cup servings for 130 calories each. Totally chocolaty and totally satisfying.

I am not sure what all the rage is these days about coconut water, but while at Trader Joes this past weekend, I decided it was time to try it. There were lots of flavors ranging from plain, to fruity to sweet. I decided to try chocolate. It took me a few days to open this up, but once I tried it, I was glad I did. This may not be an everyday thing to drink, but for 110 calories, it totally curbed my chocolate craving and was delicious. Grab one and try one for yourself!

I will be trying to post these at least once a month, if not sooner. So, stay tuned for more product reviews!

  1. I love the Zico chocolate coconut milk! Not a fan of either the plain or mango though, they tasted icky to me. Will def' be giving the Amy's enchilado bowl a go, sounds good!

  2. I haven't tried any of the other flavors, but I am sticking to the chocolate - it was so yummy! The Amy's bowl is super good and most of their products are as well - just watch the calorie count. Some are really high (but most are under 400)! They should have them at safeway or save mart. IF you can't find them, let me know and I'll bring you some to try :)
